RELEASE Zivan Saper, President of the 2003 Ford World Curling Championships Host Committee announced today that tickets will go on sale February 8th, 2002 at Select-a-Seat. The official event logo was also unveiled, which incudes the slogan, "Where the World is Won". "Having a World Championship event in Winnipeg will attract considerable interest from people in Manitoba as well as throughout Canada and internationally" Saper stated. "Winnipeg is well known for hosting quality World Class events. The 1991 World Curling Championships which were held in Winnipeg, established a whole new direction for this Championship. The energy and enthusiasm of our volunteers creates a dynamic environment that fosters new ideas, enabling us to present some of the best events in the world". This was true for the Pan-Am Games that were held in Winnipeg in 1999, which were the most successful ever held. The slogan "Where the World is Won" is a classic expression of the atmosphere in Winnipeg when given the opportunity to present itself to the world. "We've won the world over with our hospitality on several occasions, and this will be no different," Saper concluded. It was also announced that Winnipeg's Al Macatavish will serve as Honorary President. Macatavish was President of the event in 1991. Barry Greenberg, who represents the Canadian Curling Association on the Executive Committee, was also introduced.
